January 15, 2007: Kepler: David Beckham is going to get $250 million to play soccer for the Los Angeles Galaxy. Al: $250 million?! That's incredible! Kepler: Well it is a five-year contract, so that's only $50 million a year. Al: Still, that's $10 million per fan per year this year. Kepler: But if their fan base doubles it's only $5 million per fan next year!
January 17, 2007: Al: The L.A. Galaxy says they're hiring David Beckham for $50 million a year, but even in their bst season they never drew as many as 500,000 fans. Let's say they do this year. That's still 100 bucks per fan! How do they expect to earn that? Kepler: Concession sales? Al: Oof! That's one pricey souvenir Coke.
January 19, 2007: Al: So he got the biggest sports contract ever to play the biggest sport in the world. I still don't see why I'd care about seeing Davide Beckham play soccer. Dana: His wife, Posh Spice, might be there. Al: Interesting... might other Spice Girls also be showing up? Dana: Tell me what you want, what you really, really want.
