Exploring the world of comic strips through vague Japanese poetry.

April 15, 2004

The content on this page is solely created by you, the viewers, so if you want to see more, you'll have to contribute something yourself.

  1. Haikus are a form of poetry that consists of three lines with five, seven, then five syllables on each respective line. For example...

Rockwood is in space (5 syllables)
On a circular station (7 syllables)
Looking down on Earth (5 syllables)

Obviously, that's pretty boring, but technically correct. Try to do more than just count syllables. Be creative!

  2. The haiku you submit doesn't necessarily have to have Rockwood mentioned in it, but it would be nice if it related to something in the site somehow, whether it be space-related or just pertaining to a topic brought up elsewhere.

On with the haikus!

Haiku number one obviously missed us while we were gone, but he also missed the subtle Taxman reference in Monday's strip...

Brian's move results:
Two missing strips, no mailbag.
Never move again.

Seriously though.
You must live in your new house.
Until Christ's return.

Pennies on your eyes?
What is it that I'm missing?
Pee-Wee's Playhouse clay?

Great mailbag Tuesday.
Two burns on crappy comics,
and record length too.

--Sarcasmo

Haiku number two breaks down our patterns pretty well...

Thank you Brian for making our days fun with your Rockwood cartoons, mailbag and Haikus.

Monday, Wednesday and
Friday we expect cartoons!
They must make us laugh.

Tuesday is mail day.
Readers write to Rockwood team.
Thursday we Haiku.

Saturday Brian
unpacks and organizes
his new possession.

Sunday is rest day.
Brian has fun creating
laughs for his readers!

--Alyce

Haiku number three is dissatisfied with the paint job on Brian's new house as well as with her email service...

Wow, such a cute house!
but what's up with that chimney?
splotches got to go!

So sick of Ya-hell
my mail arrives three hours late
I will try G-mail

--holly

And haiku number four gets Haiku of the Week for not only pointing out our scientific inaccuracies, but also for reminding us that although Brian's house may look like a dog, he has friends who used to live in a house that looked like a cow. Congratulations, Larry! Your haiku inspired a picture-taking mission!...

Brian buys a house
Looks like it's part Dalmation!
Or was it the car?

Orbit through the Earth.
Through the rocks, not in the sky.
Try 2-6 thousand.

--Larry C.
