Exploring the world of comic strips through vague Japanese poetry.

- Haikus are a form of poetry that consists of three lines with five, seven, then five syllables on each respective line. For example...
Rockwood is in space (5 syllables)
On a circular station (7 syllables)
Looking down on Earth (5 syllables)
Obviously, that's pretty boring, but technically correct. Try to do more than just count syllables. Be creative!
- The haiku you submit doesn't necessarily have to have Rockwood mentioned in it, but it would be nice if it related to something in the site somehow, whether it be space-related or just pertaining to a topic brought up elsewhere.
On with the haikus!
Haiku number one celebrates talking to dad...
brian, epic entry for the next haiku thursday...we are counted among the blessed, those who truly know our fathers...thoughts and prayers for you and your family...love, mikki
his shadow
a long summer drive
staying out late and talking
just me and my dad
tolkien and lewis
we compare and celebrate
our bond of reading
sci-fi, fantasy
star wars, trek, b5
and douglas adams
geek genes handed down
i cherish them so dearly
glad we share so much
i followed his path,
pursued science as career,
thank him for leading
--mikki
Haiku number two has us all looking to the heavens (btw, Alyce is Dad's sister)...
Last night PBS had a two-hour special on developing the robot and parachute built for the Spirit trip to Mars. Today, we will watch as another ship sails to space. Space is a wonder.
Another devine subject:
From heaven to earth,
powerful linkage connects
to those we hold dear.
--Alyce
Haiku number three wins Haiku of the Week. We don't think we need a big explanation for this one...
Palpable sadness.
The Lundmark name will live on.
Brian makes Dad proud.
