Exploring the world of comic strips through vague Japanese poetry.

September 29, 2005

The content on this page is solely created by you, the viewers, so if you want to see more, you'll have to contribute something yourself.

  1. Haikus are a form of poetry that consists of three lines with five, seven, then five syllables on each respective line. For example...

Rockwood is in space (5 syllables)
On a circular station (7 syllables)
Looking down on Earth (5 syllables)

Obviously, that's pretty boring, but technically correct. Try to do more than just count syllables. Be creative!

  2. The haiku you submit doesn't necessarily have to have Rockwood mentioned in it, but it would be nice if it related to something in the site somehow, whether it be space-related or just pertaining to a topic brought up elsewhere.

On with the haikus!

Haiku number one plays along...

This week - Mailbag-Lite
Haiku Thursday picks up slack?
I will do my part.

--Sarcasmo

Haiku number two is late, but still amusing...

I'm sure I've missed this week's Haiku Thursday...these might not be as amusing a week later...

Arr! Pirate I be!
Shiver me timbers! Set sail,
Weigh anchor ye dogs!

Ahoy, me hearties!
Set sail we will to plunder
doubloons and booty.

Our foes be shark bait
'Tis true dead men tell no tales
Lost to Jones locker

Ye obey the Cap'n
Or ye be walkin' the plank,
Keelhauled or marooned.

Freedom be a ship
I be sailin' away if
Fair winds thar be! Arr!

--By Captain Mary Bonney a.k.a. Mikki

Haiku number three makes us wonder: was Tennessee's victory over LSU chopped liver?...

Speaking for Nashville-
Vandy is Tennessee's Pride?
Hell is now Frosty

--Sarcasmo

Finally, haiku number four gets Haiku of the Week because what's more fall than football? Nothing, that's what...

Summer ends, fall starts
Superhero movies gone,
Football takes over.

--Tony J. Moyer
