Exploring the world of comic strips through vague Japanese poetry.
November 17, 2005
The content on this page is solely created by you, the viewers, so if you want to see more, you'll have to contribute something yourself.
- Haikus are a form of poetry that consists of three lines with five, seven, then five syllables on each respective line. For example...
Rockwood is in space (5 syllables)
On a circular station (7 syllables)
Looking down on Earth (5 syllables)
Obviously, that's pretty boring, but technically correct. Try to do more than just count syllables. Be creative!
- The haiku you submit doesn't necessarily have to have Rockwood mentioned in it, but it would be nice if it related to something in the site somehow, whether it be space-related or just pertaining to a topic brought up elsewhere.
On with the haikus!
Haiku number one enjoyed the special touches on this website for Halloween...
A few Holiday Haiku questions come to mind as I view the Rockwood page:
Will is in a Tube
Can He Get Out or caught by
His Large Pumpkin Head?
Rockwood Pumpkin Head
Should Will's Head Wear a Turkey
For Al's Thanksgiving?
--Holiday Mike
Haiku number two has some issues...
In this Photograph
Who I am hates Who I've Been
An Honest Mistake
--GRACE
Haiku number three will most likely be closely following congressional investigations...
Oil, war, lies and storms,
Crusaders and Saracens,
History is stalled.
Terror spreads like fire.
Bush, Cheney, Libby and Rove
Stir the coals with doubt.
Bombs, young men, jihad;
God and Allah stand aside
To make room for Mars.
Wars destroy morals
Murderers become heroes
And Mother Earth weeps.
Power corrupts all.
Presidential entropy,
Blame the media.
Communism gone,
Terrorism fills its place,
The cold war lives on.
Tired yet, Rockwood?
Full of opinions am I,
Thank God for free speech.
--Tony J. Moyer
Haiku number four gets Haiku of the Week because it found evidence of Rockwood in the outside world. You'll have to follow the link to understand...
Tuesday - Mailbag Lite
Thursday - Haiku Lite? We'll see.
Here's hoping it's not.
B., I saw you out.
You posted on Scott's new blog.
