Tell me about it!

December 20, 2010: Al: Lutefisk again, eh? Why would cod-soaked-in-lye exist at all? Will: It's a preservative! In ancient Scandanavia, you either had to eat preserved fish or die in a snowbank! Al: Why wouldn't you prefer to just die in a snowbank? Will: Because they wouldn't find you until spring! December 22, 2010: Dana: So you soak a fish in lye until it reaches a gelatinous consistency, and then you eat it. Will: Yep! It's a Scandanavian Christmas tradition! Dana: Tradition, eh? Why not try something different, like cookies? Will: Well, I suppose you could soak cookies in lye. Dana: Let me rephrase that... December 24, 2010: Will: I got you a little bit of Sweden for the holidays, Al. Merry Christmas! (The box with lutefisk is leaking) Will: Are you trying to figure out what it is? Al: I'm trying to figure out how to regift it.
