August 15, 2011,

Beavis and Butthead.

Wow - that brings back memories of college, when we used to crowd around the dorm TV to watch it.

Of course, I think most of us got sick of it after about the first 10 episodes. It was pretty funny for a while though.

As for what they will make fun of now that MTV doesn't show videos much anymore - according to the pop culture oracle of wisdom (aka Wikipedia):

" As in the old series, Beavis and Butt-head are high school students who, among other things, criticize contemporary music videos.[5] In an interview with Rolling Stone, MTV president Van Toffler said that the duo will also watch Jersey Shore, Ultimate Fighting Championship matches, and amateur videos from YouTube, as well as give movie reviews. "

YouTube videos eh? That's pathetic. Of course there are probably more music videos on YouTube now than MTV...

So it sounds like they're branching out a lot in their interests. If they actually DO show an occasional video, it'll be way more than MTV shows now.

Not that I would know. I stopped watching MTV in the mid-90s, back when they ... um ... stopped showing music videos. I don't even have cable now.

Anyhow. No chance of me watching B&B now. That's one show I don't even need my kids to know exists! :)

(Of course, they have heard the occasional "Are you threatening me?" from me, when someone has had too much caffeine or sugar......)

Amateur YouTube videos, eh? Finally, it's our chance to make it on MTV! Would it be a bigger honor to be roasted by Beavis or Butthead? There's a sentence that's never been written before.
