I don't think I've ever written to the mailbag, but I didn't want to wait until Haiku Thursday to say CONGRATULATIONS! I have a 2 and a half year old son and he is pretty much the coolest kid ever.
Are we going to see any kids showing up on the Rockwood space station to coincide with this momentous occasion?

Thanks, Sarcasmo. Who knows what the future will bring as far as kids in Rockwood? Maybe that's finally our ticket to greatness!

A terrible thing happened. I retired, and since I wasn't at work, I stopped checking out rockwoodcomic. I have missed so much. I was thinking about it tonight and went there, and I have to say, it is a great comic. My wife called out to me, "Is that you out there chuckling"? "Yup", I said. "I haven't looked at rockwoodcomic since I retired, and I didn't know what I was missing." I notice the mailbag is a little sparse too. Is that my fault?

Yes, Jim, we think it is your fault. But you have turned from your fallen ways and have once again embraced the goodness that is Rockwood. Congratulations!

I am guessing it has happened, and hopefully all came out well. I understand the situation, but would it be unreasonable to expect at least a one sentence update?
Best of luck.

I know you must have lots of other things on your mind but I am sure many of us would appreciate a tribute to Steve in the way only Rockwood can ...

You know, you go away for a couple of months and you miss a bunch of stuff. Weird how that works. We may yet have some Jobs-related strips in the future, but we don't want it to appear as old news. But we're glad you thought of us. Team Rockwood thought that if anything would bring out Jack Miller from his As The Apple Turns hiding place, it would be Jobs' death. That it didn't leads us to finally, sadly believe we've seen the last of AtAT.

Children are both the most rewarding and most frustrating things you can think of, and the swing between the two of those can happen in about 45 seconds...

Oh, Andrew, that's ridiculous. Children are-- hey! HEY! DON'T EAT THAT!! Uh’Ķ where were we again?

She's beautiful. Tell me if you don't think that moment was the most amazing in your whole life. Congrats to Mom too.

Ding! You are correct, sir! Talking about it for nine months still doesn't prepare you for when it happens. The simultaneous rush of joy, relief, and exhaustion are something to be cherished forever. Or at least until the next diaper change.

Congratulations on your baby!
Did anybody ever figure out what really happened to Jack Miller of As the Apple Turns?
--Eric
|
|
|
|
|
Not that we know of, Eric. We find it sort of humorous that people think we have some sort of inside track to Jack. We wish we did, but he apparently has pulled off the impossible in the internet age: completely vanishing. Think of him as the anti-Kardashian.

So far so good, Mike. Extrapolating out, we're hoping you've gotten more than four hours of sleep per night for the entirety of those first two years. If you haven't, please don't tell us. We'd rather live in blissful ignorance.

Excellent Jack Miller reference. ¬ÝI was just thinking about AtAT the other day and wondering about him, which immediately make me think of Rockwood. ¬ÝToo funny!
Either way: Congratulations, Dad!

Isn't it funny how everyone wants to hear from Jack Miller again? He should come back. He'd be bigger than the Beatles!

We did say we'd be back weeks ago, Brian. That's true. And we weren't back by then. That's also true. What we MEANT to say was that we'd be back when we had accumulated three normal weeks worth of sleep. That didn't happen until recently.

++ Brian spending time with Sara and the Fam
I updated the original MacRumors for a year before I started becoming convinced they might not be coming back. ¬ÝWe'll be here when, and if, you decide you have time. ¬ÝBuild a much smaller vision of success, like maybe once a week just to keep the site fresh and give your mind a chance to think about something not revolving around baby stuff for a few.
Congrats!
