The Force is with Mikki!

Remember months ago, when we told loyal-Rockwood-reader Mikki that she could be the official representative of Team Rockwood at the Star Wars Celebration? Well, she didn't slack off on her half of the deal, so it's about time that we held up our end. Without further ado, here's Mikki's report!

For your amusement here are some pics from the Celebration...

It really was a blast. I just recovered enough for the midnight showing of Revenge Of The Sith. It was incredible. I started crying when I saw the young kids hiding in the Jedi temple. And my heart totally broke at the end of Anakin and Obi Wan's duel when Obi Wan was saying his final words to Anakin. Then Friday night I "had" to see the movie again because I had some friends who couldn't make it to the midnight show.

Other thoughts from Celebration III...

Warwick Davis showed "Return of the Ewok" with live commentary. It's the short film Davis and folks made during Sunday lunch breaks in Return of the Jedi that tells a fictional version of how Davis got into the film. He's just brillantly funny and the film's adorable, if you haven't seen it you should find a copy.

Star Wars: Musical Edition was hilarious as well. Two words: Dancing Stormtroopers. Simply priceless and incredible how the writers of it managed to parody so many famous broadway songs in one hour. They had Jar Jar in the Mos Eisley Cantina scene and Obi Wan mowed him down. Everyone burst into applause at that. During the scene where Luke intially sees Leia's message, the actress repeated her lines/actions for three or four times and then just did the actions while Luke and the droids talked. That was too funny. Really wish we could have video taped it.

It was just an absolutely fabulous experience. I'm so happy it was here in Indy and I was lucky enough to have the days off of work to go. Overall the atmosphere was just incredibly warm. We met people in line from Iowa who noticed my friend's Iowa State jacket and talked to folks who'd driven for a day or more to get there and listened to folks in front of or behind us speak in Japanese or Spanish or German. Just amazing.

If they ever have another I would totally recommend going!

Keep up the great work on the strip,

--Mikki

Thanks, Mikki! By the way, we only linked to some of Mikki's photos in the above report. For those of you who want to see more, here you go (in no particular order):

  1. David Prowse!

  2. A home-built R2D2.

  3. Someone in a cold climate with waaaaay too much time on their hands.

  4. The preferred conclusion for Jar-Jar.

  5. Kenny Baker!

  6. Someone has too many Legos.

  7. Someone has waaaaay too many Legos.

  8. That speeder's looked better.

  9. Mikki can take him.

  10. Heyyyyy... does this guy go to LOTR conventions, too?

  11. One of many iterations of Jango Fett.

  12. Yet another Jango clone.

  13. Does Mikki think she's being treated unfairly?

  14. Ah! Red Cylons! Oh... wrong movie.

  15. Jango Fett...version 3

  16. You don't know the POWER of the Rascal!

  17. Jango...uh...well, maybe not. He's a little short for a storm trooper.

  18. Jango, version 4

  19. Note the construction worker. This is the Empire's version of The Village People.

  20. We're assuming this one isn't made of plywood.

  21. Where do you get certified to fly one of these?

Again, thanks to Mikki, for all of the hard work she put in!
