Rockwood Praises Lieberman as "Excellent Sleep Aid"
Wednesday, August 16, 2000
LOS ANGELES, CA --Following Wednesday night's acceptance speech by the Democratic vice presidential nominee, Will Rockwood declared that Joseph Lieberman's speeches were the "most excellent sleep aid" he'd had in years.
"You've got to hand it to Gore," said the third-party presidential candidate, "In a world full of bold and exciting potential running mates, he managed to find someone with both the panache and charisma of a Walter Mondale."
Rockwood 2000 campaign manager Al Vanguard said he was awed by Gore's search team. "It can't be easy to find someone who's more boring than Al. They must have geniuses working for them."
Rockwood himself said he was relieved in the choice of Lieberman as Gore's running mate.
"It's been a very stressful race," he said, "And I haven't been getting as much sleep as I should have lately. But during Lieberman's speech on Wednesday night, I managed to catch several naps. You can't believe how refreshed I feel."
Vanguard admitted that he, too, had caught some zees. "Let me tell you, that Lieberman has one magical drone," said the campaign manager. "I slept like a baby."
When asked about his own running mate, Rockwood said that he was still doing research, "But I have to admit that there seems to be a trend towards the listless that we weren't expecting. Apparently there's something wrong with our sampling methods."
In the meantime, Rockwood said he planned on catching up on some more sleep.
"I made a recording of Lieberman's speech tonight," said the excited candidate. "No more insomnia for me!"
